Biography
Leith was one of Australia's most experienced power
engineers with over 40 years in the industry and with
wide experience in dealing with problems of network design
and operation, especially in rural areas.
Leith also had extensive experience in power design,
including designing and building light and power installations,
diesel generation stations, uninterruptible power supplies,
frequency converters, distribution substations, zone substations,
underground cable networks, overhead line networks, protection
systems and earthing systems.
Leith was an honorary professorial fellow at the
University of Wollongong, where he assisted many PhD students
with the practical and esoteric aspects of distribution networks.
Leith passed away in November 2016. Leith was well
respected in Australia and internationally and his pragmatic
engineering attitude and his cheerful, helpful nature will
be sadly missed by all that knew, or had an association
with him. He was 73 years old.
