Biography
Valerie Linton is a metallurgist with a research interest
in welding and pipeline steels.
Before joining the University of Wollongong in 2016, Valerie
was the inaugural CEO of the Energy Pipelines Cooperative Research
Centre, an Australian based organisation, with partners worldwide,
undertaking research and education delivering benefits to the
global pipeline industry.
Before taking up this position, Valerie held a chair in the
School of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Adelaide.
Prior to that Valerie worked for MPT in New Zealand, a materials
and corrosion consulting company. She started off her career
working on linepipe materials and welding for British Gas in
the UK.
Valerie gained her degree in metallurgy from Sheffield University
and her PhD from Cambridge University.
Valerie is a fellow of Engineers Australia, a chartered engineer
and chartered materials professional, and a graduate of the Australia
Institute of Company Directors.
