Amin Rajabi obtained his bachelor's and master's degrees in Electrical Engineering and Power Systems from the University of Tehran, Iran in 2005 and 2007 respectively. His Master studies involved the establishment of a reactive power market in the restructured power system environment. After graduation, he worked with different electricity companies for eight years and accomplished various duties as a "senior power system studies engineer", "secondary and protection system engineer", "HV substations expert", and "site electrical supervisor".

He joined University of Technology Sydney (UTS) in 2016 as a PhD student where he worked mainly on data mining of smart meter data and investigated its applications for power systems. Amin is currently working with the Australian Power Quality and Reliability Centre as a Research Fellow. His current research interests include active distribution systems, power quality issues in modern power grids, data science solutions for power system problems, and demand-side management.
